Our Design & Planning Process

Waukee CabinetWorks offers a comprehensive home cabinet design process that addresses your needs step by step as we work together towards your dream space. Our team conceptualizes and plans alongside you using a set of design and planning tools to help you brainstorm options and let you see an accurate visual representation of your finalized home cabinet design plans. WCW uses cutting-edge, industry-specific software to ensure that your cabinets will be built to your personal specifications and that you’ll see an exact plan before our custom cabinet makers start fabrication.  Our team will provide you with floor plans, elevations, and perspectives for your review and approval. Using state-of-the-art industry software, a realistic 3D rendering may also be provided to further increase your confidence in your project selections before our custom cabinet makers get to work.

1. Complimentary Initial Design Consultation

Tell us about your project! During this phase, we will want to establish a budget and hear all about what you like, don't like, aesthetic and functional challenges and new opportunities for your space. We will ask a lot of questions to get the perfect idea of how to make your dreams become a reality. Houzz Idea Books, Instagram and/or Facebook posts and magazine clippings can be excellent tools for helping us get to know you and your needs so that we can be the best possible partner during your remodel.

2. Planning & Design Phase

This phase can generally be the longest part of our process. To begin this phase, we will visit your home to secure overall general measurements (or work from your measurements) and proceed to put together an initial design and budgetary proposal for your project. While the initial design and one set of revisions are complimentary, WCW does charge a Design Retainer for multiple rounds of design revisions. This design retainer is non-refundable and will be applied as a credit to your project, once the product order is placed. Once a commitment has been made, we will meet again to go over renderings and floorplans to make sure that you are 100% happy with your new design.

3. Product Order and Scheduling

At the end of the Design phase, we will meet again to review the final proposed plans with you to make sure that you are comfortable with all aspects of your project. Once we have your approval and payment has been accepted, we will begin ordering all of your products and coordinating with manufacturers for product delivery.

Waukee CabinetWorks is not a general contractor, but we can assist with contractors, or one provided by the homeowner, to ensure cabinetry delivery is within the desired timeline of the scope of the project.
